Ruza Necklace
The design of this vintage gold and diamond necklace is based on the idea of a pattern.
Each repeating unit comprises a rose-cut diamond framed within a black square using techniques inspired by Hyderabadi kaam, and two elongated leaves set with natural brilliant-cut diamonds emerging from a ruby. Two rows of this repeating pattern run along either side and meet at the center, where a similar motif forms the central unit. Suspended from all elements are fringes of cultured pearls, along with gold and red enameled beads. The design showcases 10 man-hours of skillful pirai, the craft of stringing beads using thin gold wire.
The black detailing around the squares is characteristic of the Hyderabadi technique and is used to enhance the brilliance of the rose-cut diamonds.
